Phnom Penh, Cambodia: Whether you are a journalist or social media professional, you have to bear your responsibility over the acts on the net. Your role is to provide citizen to adequate the essence to social movement and development. Media self-regulation should always be a priority to maximize professionalism in journalism.
As a journalist or a social media user, you are to share information to the mass. The differentiation between publicly important information and information that evokes public interest is crucial. Consider when reporting on private life of a person, even if he/she is a public figure; make sure that such information neither violate the interest of the third parties nor damage the well-being of an institution.
I encourage media ethics to be a topic at the assembly of Cambodia SPM and the journalists.
